Common questions
Can ZoneRead tell me whether to sign?
No — and that limit is deliberate, not a shortcoming. ZoneRead reads the contract, explains it in plain English, and flags what's in it. Whether to sign is a decision for you, with a licensed attorney where the stakes call for one. Anything that told you what to do would be legal advice, which ZoneRead is not licensed to give.
Is ZoneRead a law firm?
No. ZoneRead is not a law firm, doesn't provide legal advice, and using it doesn't create an attorney–client relationship. If you decide you want a lawyer, you can request a referral to an independent attorney who works for you — ZoneRead never routes a deal to an attorney on its own.
Does ZoneRead cover the cost of an attorney?
No. If you request a referral and engage an attorney, anything that attorney charges is set by them, billed by them, and paid directly to them — it is not included in your ZoneRead subscription or any other ZoneRead price. Their rates and terms are theirs to set and explain. ZoneRead's role ends at the introduction: we are not part of your engagement with that attorney, we receive no payment from them, and we do not share in their fees.
Who pays ZoneRead?
You do — and only you. ZoneRead is never paid by a school, brand, agent, or collective. That's the whole point: the moment the other side of your deal is paying us, our read isn't worth anything to you.
Why is the first read free but the full one isn't?
The preview runs your real contract and shows you the overall read and the most serious flag, so you can judge whether the read is any good before paying. The full read — every flag, the eligibility check, deadlines, and your Deal File — plus unlimited reads on every future deal, comes with a Deal File subscription.
Where's my receipt, or how do I change my card?
Both live in your account settings, under Billing. Your card and receipts are held by Stripe, our payment processor — ZoneRead never stores card numbers.
How do I cancel Deal Monitoring?
In settings → Billing → the Stripe portal. Cancel any time; access runs to the end of the period you've paid for.
Can I get my data, or delete everything?
Yes, immediately and without asking us. Settings has a one-click export of everything we hold, and account deletion that removes your profile and every contract in your Deal File.
Is my contract shared with anyone?
Never with the counterparty. It's processed by our AI provider to generate your read, and it goes to an attorney only if you explicitly ask for a referral. See the Privacy Policy.
The athlete is under 18. Can we use this?
Yes — a parent or legal guardian creates and controls the account and accepts the Terms on the athlete's behalf. High-school NIL rules vary sharply by state, and some states restrict it heavily, so confirm specifics with your state association.
If a deal is moving fast
Pressure to sign quickly is itself worth noticing — a deal that can't survive a day of review is telling you something. Read the free About NIL pages, run a free preview, and talk to a parent or guardian before anything gets signed.
